主な違い – 市民権 vs 永住権
多くの人が市民権と永住権は同じものだと考えていますが、実はこの2つには違いがあります。
市民と永住権保持者はどちらもその国に永住する法的権利を持っていますが、永住権保持者は市民が持つすべての権利を持っているわけではありません。
これが市民と永住権保持者の大きな違いです。
市民とは誰なのか
オックスフォード大学の辞書では、市民を「国家または連邦の法的に認められた臣民または国民で、出身者または帰化者のいずれか」と定義しています。
市民権を決定する要因はいくつかあります。
国によって市民権の付与に関する規則が異なるが、通常は出生国が個人の市民権を決定する。
また、両親がその国の国民である場合、その人はその国の国籍を取得することができます。
他の国の市民と結婚しても、その国の市民権を得ることができます。
People who have entered another country legally and been granted the permit to stay, or been granted political asylum, and lived there for a specified period are also granted the citizenship of that country. Some people have dual citizenship, which makes them citizens of two countries or states. In most cases, we are citizens of the country we are born in. A citizen has more rights and privileges than a permanent resident.
Who is the Permanent Resident (永住権保持者)
永住権保持者とは、ある国に永住する法的権利を与えられた個人のことです。
しかし、永住権保持者はその国の国民ではありません。
最も重要なことは、永住権保持者の出生国は別の国であるということです。
彼らは他の国の市民であることに変わりはありません。
彼/彼女は、他の国に無期限に滞在するためのビザの地位を与えられただけなのです。
永住権保持者にはその国のパスポートは発行されず、代わりに永住権保持者カードが渡されます。
米国では、永住権カードはグリーンカードと呼ばれている。
A permanent resident does not have the same rights as a citizen. Permanent residents cannot vote or cannot stand for public office. They also cannot own certain types of properties. However, a permanent resident can apply for citizenship after completing a specified period of residence. But the permanent residency can be cancelled by the state if that individual commits a serious offense or does not reside in the country for a specific period of time.
