主な違い – 開音節と閉音節
Syllable is a unit of pronunciation having one vowel sound, with or without surrounding consonants, forming the whole or a part of a word. There are six types of syllables: closed syllables, open syllables, silent-e syllables, vowel combination syllables, vowel-r syllables, and consonant-l-e syllables. In this article, we are going to look at open and closed syllables and the difference between them. The main difference between open and closed syllable is that open syllable ends with a vowel whereas closed syllable ends with a consonant. A word may be made up of both open and closed syllables.
オープン・シラブルとは
開音節は、母音が1つだけで、その母音は音節の最後に現れます。
子音で閉じられていないため、”オープン “と呼ばれます。
開音節は長母音を持ちます。
開音節の例としては、no, he, she, be, me, go, hi, spryなどがあります。
また、母音が単独で音を形成している場合も、オープンシラブルとみなされることがあります。
例えば、’able’の “a “や’baby’の “ba “もオープン・シラブルとみなされます。
偽音節（Open Syllable
オープン・シラブルは、母音の発音で認識することができます。
これは、文字の名前のように発音されます。
例えば、”me “という単語は “e “のように発音されます。
閉じた音節とは
閉音節にも 1 つの母音が含まれますが、この母音の後には必ず子音が続きます。
つまり、閉音節は常に子音で終わります。
開音節の母音とは異なり、閉音節が発する母音は短音です。
閉音節の例としては、ask, junk, soft, on, in, but, sock, hid, pat, bat, truck, bed, hip, menといった単語があります。
これらの例はすべて、1つの母音を含み、子音で終わります。
また、1つの単語が2つ以上の閉音節を持つこともあります。
以下は、2つの閉じた音節を持つ単語です。
combat, dentist, contact, happen, insect, kitten, rabbit, fabric.
